Thanks for checking my "inside information" about the community of La Mesa, California. I've lived in La Mesa and El Cajon for over 40 years so I've had a chance to see the changes over the years. The "Old Village" portion of La Mesa has been under going a major improvement to the sidewalks and making it much more pedestrian friendly. The Old Village is a throw back to a different era. The Old Village area also holds an Oktoberfest that has become a major event for the city every year. This area has also become a central attraction for restaurants that range from upscale to family style. There are also a number of drinking establishments that offer great food. My personal favorite is Mario's Mexican restaurant. It is a little different in that the building is the old Dansk restaurant that had a Danish motif that can still be seen if you look for the details. Mario's has some of the best Mexican food you'll find, so get on over and try it and tell me what you think.
